MediaTek tops seven consecutive quarters in smartphone chip sales

MediaTek topped the market in smartphone chip sales in the first quarter of this year. As a result, the Taiwan-based chip maker has topped the list for seven consecutive quarters. According to a recent report by Counterpoint Research, MediaTek accounted for 38 percent of the global smartphone chip market in the January-March quarter. Qualcomm was in second place with 30 percent share. Apple is in third place in the market with 15 percent of their shares. Unisk, Samsung and High Silicon were fourth, fifth and sixth in the market with 11, 5 and 1 percent shares, respectively. MediaTek has achieved 20 percent growth in sales of 5G chips in the last quarter. Besides, MediaTek had a strong position in the mid-priced smartphone market, relying on DimensionT700 and DimensionT900 series chips. The company has also made good money in the high-end smartphone market by relying on the Dimension 9000 series.
